Shark Fishing Trip
With over 35 different species of sharks that call the waters around Hilton Head Island home, shark fishing in the south Atlantic is starting to turn some heads. With record numbers of sharks being tagged and their activities followed by thousands daily, anglers and novices alike are starting to enjoy sport fishing for shark in such a bio diverse area. In the calm waters of the Calibogue Sound, shark fishing is an everyday occurrence during the warm summer months. Fish for different species daily depending on the season, tides, and experience levels of the group. Bigger fish take longer trips and more time to prepare. Execution is key to landing big sharks, one false move can lose the fish of a lifetime. But that’s the point, for the chance at vindication for the one that got away. Captains lay away awake many a night thinking about the ones that got away. The famous line, "we’re gonna need a bigger boat" is said freely and singing is never discouraged. Each day there is success, you may not land a giant, but you will land several different species of sharks and learn about them in the process
There’s nothing like yelling “fish on!” and hooking a client up on a monster fish that is screaming the line out. Fish for: Atlantic Sharpnose Shark, Blacknose Shark, Bonnethead Shark, Black Tip Shark Blue Shark Bull Shark Dusky Shark Finetooth Shark Smooth and Scalloped Hammerhead Sharks, Lemon shark, Nurse shark, Sandbar Shark, Spinner Shark, Shortfin Mako, Tiger Shark, Thresher Shark, and now even Great White Sharks in winter months.
